Who is responsible for your data

fellowexpat is a product of Fullstacker, a company registered in the Netherlands. Fullstacker is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.

What we collect

When you subscribe, we collect your email address, the time you consented, and your IP address at the time of signup (kept as proof of consent, as required under GDPR). If you sign up through the FIRE Projector calculator, we also store the projection inputs used to personalize that one confirmation email.

Why we collect it, and on what legal basis

To send you the double opt-in confirmation email, and — for calculator signups — that one personalized email with your projection. We don't send anything else at this stage; this policy will be updated if and when we start sending a regular newsletter to confirmed subscribers.

Our legal basis is your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. You give it by submitting the signup form, and confirming it by email is what activates the subscription.

To be precise about timing: we store your email address as soon as you submit the form, marked as unconfirmed. If you never click the confirmation link, that record stays unconfirmed and we send you nothing further — but the address does remain stored until you ask us to delete it.

Bot protection

The signup form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that submissions come from a person rather than an automated script. Because the form appears in the footer of every page, Turnstile loads and processes technical signals from your browser (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) on every page of this site, not only when you subscribe. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf as part of providing the service.

Analytics and advertising

If you accept the cookie banner shown on this site, we load Google Analytics (to understand how visitors use the site) and Google AdSense (to show ads). Nothing from either loads until you accept — declining, or not responding, means neither script runs.

Accepting means Google sets cookies and processes data (such as your IP address and browsing activity on this site) to serve analytics and, for AdSense, potentially personalized ads. You can review or change how Google uses this data for ad personalization at adssettings.google.com, and learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at google.com/policies/privacy/partners.

Who we share it with

For the newsletter data described above: nobody. We use Cloudflare as our infrastructure provider (hosting, database, and email delivery) — they process this data on our behalf, not for their own purposes. Google Analytics and Google AdSense are separate, cookie-banner-gated, and described above.

How long we keep it

Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all further sending and processing immediately.

Unsubscribing does not by itself erase your record. We keep it — marked as unsubscribed — so that we can honor your unsubscribe and evidence your consent history, as GDPR requires us to be able to do. It isn't used for anything else. For full erasure, email us at hello@fellowexpat.nl and we will delete your record entirely.

Your rights

You can withdraw your consent at any time. The quickest way is the unsubscribe link in any email we send, which stops all further processing immediately. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect the lawfulness of anything we did before you withdrew it.

Under the GDPR you also have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@fellowexpat.nl.

If you think we've handled your data improperly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch supervisory authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
